App Design/ MOUNPICKS

Mountain Media Hub was a computer lab specialized in creating, developing and prototyping new products.

The business challenge was to design a new iOS App dedicated to outdoor sports and outdoor exploration guides. We undertake an extensive research about international outdoor applications and a qualitative research about sport trendsetters and outdoor bloggers.

The research process included a selection of service design methods and tools such as stakeholders map, contextual interviews, service safaris and analysis of secondary data. With the first findings, we initiated the creation of personas and we followed the research with the application of idea generation, the five whys, cultural probes and, finally, design scenarios. To funnel the results we presented different service prototypes in addition to the visual identity and icon design. The process helped the team prioritise and define the decision-making.

As a result of the analysis, some of the critical conclusions that emerged were to prioritise: 1) To preserve the battery of the phone 2) To  allow users to work without Internet connection and, 3) to have the alternative to guide people with the minimum use of GPS.

We worked as an integrated team inside the company facilitating a co-creation process for a period of 10 months by helping the company to develop their new idea and also, giving solutions to day to day design needs of other clients and projects including web design, marketing and research of new clients and opportunities. Our last contribution was to introduce the development team Mountain Media Hub to ThingThing that is currently the winner of Disrupted by Mobile in the 4YFN at Mobile World congress and one of the most promising startups of  Barcelona in 2016.
